Dr George Rennie (MBBS, MMed (Clinical Epidemiology), BOptom, FRANZCO)

Dr George Rennie is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with a subspecialty interest in Medical Retina. He is committed to achieving the best outcomes for his patients and in treating patients like family.

Dr Rennie began a career in optometry, having studied at the University of New South Wales. He then studied medicine at the University of Sydney. While completing his internship and residency at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, he completed his Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology (University of Sydney). Dr Rennie completed his comprehensive ophthalmology training through the Sydney Eye Hospital network where he trained in numerous large city and smaller regional hospitals, as well as working interstate. He undertook subspecialty training in Medical Retina at Westmead Hospital and a further general fellowship at Geelong University Hospital.

Dr Rennie strongly believes in effective communication and as such encourages discussion with patients in order to ensure they own decisions regarding their health and in order to optimize comfort and outcomes.

Dr Rennie has published in multiple peer reviewed journals and regularly attends international ophthalmology meetings, keeping abreast of evolving technologies and therapies for the benefit of his patients. He is a clinical lecturer at the University of Canberra, school of Optometry.
