Prior to cataract surgery, an A-Scan is performed. The measurements taken from this test assist us to determine how strong your new prosthetic lens should be in cataract surgery. This is because the crystalline lens inside of your eye (the cataract) will be removed, and replaced with a prosthetic crystal clear lens.
Literally meaning ‘measuring the eye’, A-Scan Biometry or Ocular Biometry is a routine test. This test assists us in measuring the length of your eye, the curvature of your cornea, and more. At Murdoch Ophthalmology, we use the latest start of the art Ocular Biometry machine called a Lenstar to perform all A-Scan tests. We will also provide auto refraction and corneal topography to ensure that you get the perfect measurement.
